Joe James of LIUNA Local 165, Peoria, Ill., was recently recognized for 70 years of service to his Local Union.

“As a hard-working rank-and-file member, President of the Local Union, and now active retiree, your service to LIUNA has truly gone above and beyond the call of duty,” wrote LIUNA General President Brent Booker. “You have even passed our ideals and values on to your daughter, Pam, whose 40 years of membership is a testament to your entire family’s commitment,” he continued.

Local 165 Business Manager and Secretary/Treasurer Matt Bartolo presented Joe with a certificate and “platinum” card at a recent Local meeting.

“He’s at every event, he’s usually the last one here cleaning up, he’s just the consummate Union member that you can rely on,” said Matt of working with Joe over the years. “Local 165 is a better Union because of Joe James.”

Joe recalled his many years of service, commenting that he had worked on every bridge in the Peoria area, and had probably touched nearly all the major roadways in the area. “It’s a great outfit,” said Joe of his work for LIUNA. “They’ve treated me good through thick and thin.”
