The Midwest Region of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) celebrated Labor Day as a show of strength through solidarity. Since the first Labor Day celebration in 1882, American workers have fought for better wages, shorter hours, and safer conditions. Now more than ever those rights are under attack, and to show their continued to commitment to workers and their families, LIUNA members across the Midwest Region marched and celebrated. Many celebrations across the region included an unveiling of the Laborers’ Bill of Rights, a document developed over the last year with input from rank and file LIUNA members. Union members, apprentices, and their families were invited to sign the Bill of Rights in a show of their dedication to the ongoing fight.
