Workers from California to South Carolina and everywhere in between are building Illinois’ solar infrastructure. These projects are financed by Illinois rate payers, but very few Illinois residents are employed on them – and when they are, out-of-state contractors are paying temp workers wages as low as $12 an hour.
Illinois needs to establish labor standards like Prevailing Wage to help ensure that Illinois workers are employed on the clean energy projects that they and other Illinois rate payers are subsidizing.
