Every year more than 700 people are killed in work zone crashes. The causes can range from driver impairment, to speeding, to being distracted drivers. As we enter the start of construction season in the Midwest, it’s time once again to remind people of the dangers of driving through work zones and to remind them to slow down, pay attention, and save lives!
For the second year in a row, Illinois high school students who participate in LIUNA’s Construction Career Prep Program* were asked to create a 30 to 60 second video on the subject of work zone safety, with the winning team receiving gift cards and other prizes.
We are proud to announce that the 2022 winning submission was from the seniors at the Marion Training Center.
Below are the entrants from all participating classes at the LIUNA training centers in Marion, IL and Edwardsville, IL. Congratulations to all teams.
* LIUNA’s Construction Career Prep Program (CCPP) is conducted at LIUNA satellite training facilities in Illinois, located in Edwardsville, Marion and Stanford. Each facility enters into agreements with area school districts and enrolls approximately 15 students each year. The program is two years in length.
