The Kansas City, Mo., Local 264 Volunteer Organizing Committee has definitely been busy in these last days of summer. The Local 264 Women in Construction and VOC groups were proud to donate food to the Veterans’ Community Project in Kansas City, which serves 100-150 veterans daily. This donation came at a time when the shelves were looking bare.

The VOC also participated in the fifth Annual Back to School Backpack Drive in partnership with City Councilwoman Ryana Parks-Shaw, loading cars with school supplies and non-perishable items to serve over 300 members of the community.

Finally, VOC members are more than Laborers, they’re also members of a community that they make better every day, the VOC  joined up with Local 264 retirees and Women in Construction members to put in some hard work and clean up roadsides in the community. Laborers aren’t afraid to get dirty to serve their neighbors!
